Xi Gamma GAP Chapter by way of Delta
I joined Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. my sophomore year of college and I don't think I could have imagined just how life changing a decision it was. I have been privileged to work with women from all walks of life and challenged to work harder than I ever have before. With each year that passes I am renewed by the good we do in the communities around us.
Today after graduating from Duke University I am an Operations Manager in Washington, DC. In charge of a wide variety of managerial and administrative roles, I am a woman of many hats and must be ready to resolve whatever problems might arise for my clients. On a day-to-day basis I spend my time doing that and incorporating my other passions in life, reading and makeup. I am and have always been a voracious reader and love the ability to share my thoughts with the world through my blog (Reading Amidst the Chaos). I also like to consider myself a semi-professional makeup artist, as helping women feel beautiful and understand their own ability to make themselves beautiful is incredibly rewarding for me. I usually end up blogging about my work and whatever else random and geeky that comes to me on my personal blog, Good Red Herring.
Still even with all this I try to make sure to keep my life balanced, as I regularly volunteer with both my chapter and the local Duke alumni organization. I am part of the leadership team of Partners in Education, a Duke Club of Washington branch that works with two different inner city schools. Throughout the school year we plan enriching and fulfilling Saturday trips that bring together elementary school students and Duke mentors. I'm very honored to work with them and to see the good that we do with some of the world's most vulnerable members.
And when I'm not doing all that I like to sleep. And eat. Relax as much as possible really, which includes bad TV, cultural festivals, and hanging out with my sisters!
